The Story
Hi there!
My name is Karina and I am the creator of Kcrafts.
The story of Kcrafts began one evening in Target. It was a dark and stormy night, the clearance rack in shambles, not an employee in sight. Nah, just kidding, it was a regular day and I was low on toothpaste. Like normal with my Target visits, I was browsing everything except what I needed. A turquoise necklace caught my eye. I am always on the lookout for accessories with personality; ones that can truly polish an outfit and have just a touch of sparkle... This was NOT that necklace. As I got closer, I realized that something about it was just tacky - it was made of plastic !?
Folks, I take care of myself. I enjoy dressing well. Call me crazy, but I just can't bring myself to wear costume jewelry. That being said, I loved the style but not the execution. So I set off on an expedition to the World Wide Web. My goal was to find a necklace with just as much energy, but with quality materials (I also needed it to not break the bank!). My goal felt simple, but my journey was fraught with peril. I encountered sky high pricing, 30 day shipping and untrustworthy websites. On top of that, I was distraught to find the market over saturated with basic, boring gemstones - diamond, rubies and sapphires, oh my! Talk about an impractical price tag? Hadn't any retailers heard of labradorite, sunstone, apatite? There was no balance of style, quality and price. Nothing fit my expectation of classy yet fun. Disappointed, I went home empty handed. (Yes, yes, I was home the whole time, that’s the beauty of shopping online!)
I created what I couldn't find
To be honest, sitting at home I felt a little defeated. Did jewelry with real materials actually exist outside of wedding rings and department stores? I decided this was a problem, a missing link if you will. I have always been a creative person and a hard worker. I was certain I could create something stylish, trendy and genuine. I decided to buy the ideal materials and make the darn thing myself. Fast forward 3 years, many sleepless nights, SO much research and many new friends - Viola!
